Description
The riverbed of the Rote Weißeritz meanders through a picturesque landscape. This V-shaped valley, which is up to 80 metres deep, is known as Rabenauer Grund. The most striking features are the bizarre rock formations. The valley has been a nature reserve since 1961 because of its flora and fauna. Breeding birds include Пронурок біловолий, Рибалочка блакитний, Плиска гірська, Кропив’янка чорноголова, Мухоловка сіра, Костогриз and Повзик звичайний. In early spring, the courtship display of the Пронурок біловолий is easy to observe, from up close.

Rabenauer Grund is located between the towns of Rabenau and Coßmannsdorf. You can park at the valley entrance. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. A forest path runs the entire length of the valley.
