Description
Müggelsee offers a rich combination of lake, reedbeds and woodlands.
There is a large population of Очеретянка велика , and a colony of Крячок чорний at Die Banke. In winter, when other sites in Berlin can be a bit boring, one can find interesting waterfowl here, including Пірникоза сірощока, Пірникоза червоношия, Гоголь зеленоголовий, Турпан and various loons. Manz gulls can also be observed throughout the year.
In the winter 2020 the lake was visited by one of the rarest loons, the Гагара білодзьоба (gavia adamsii).
The woodlands south of the lake, and around the small Teufelsseemoor Köpenick, are home to breeding Мухоловка мала. This area has its own Birding Places page with further info: https://www.birdingplaces.eu/en/birdingplaces/germany/teufelsseemoor-kopenick. (See the clickable link below)
