Description
The wet meadows of Elzwiesen are irrigated in March, August and November. End of March/ start of April and August are the best times to watch migrating birds on the flooded meadows. Common migrating spiecies are Коловодник болотяний , Брижач , Коловодник великий , Мартин звичайний and Чирянка велика. Also rarer species like Косар білий , Кульон середній and Грицик великий can sometimes be found on the irrigated areas.
Breeding birds are Кульон великий , Чайка чубата , Соловейко західний and Сорокопуд терновий. Many Чепура велика , Чапля сіра and Лелека білий can be observed feeding in the area. The meadows are irrigated in steps from south to north. So most times only one part of the area is flooded. Note that the area has limited access from March to June.
