Alte Elbe is an old arm of the river Elbe near the town of Gerwisch. Good chances to see Орлан-білохвіст, Скопа and Журавель сірий. Many waterbirds, especially during migration time (e.g., Чепура велика, Чапля сіра, Гуска сіра, Гуменник, Широконіска північна, Чирянка мала, Чирянка велика, Лебідь-кликун, Крех малий, Крех великий, Пірникоза велика, Пірникоза мала, Чайка чубата, Коловодник великий, Коловодник чорний, Брижач). In the adjacent areas Шуліка рудий, Шуліка чорний, Боривітер звичайний, Жовна чорна, Крутиголовка звичайна, and very occasionally Бджолоїдка звичайна or Одуд can be seen.
