Description

The area is of great importance for breeding birds of semi-natural grasslands and wetlands. Around 80 species of breeding birds are recorded annually, including Кульон великий, Чайка чубата, Лелека білий , Пірникоза мала, Пастушок, Перепілка звичайна, Чирянка велика, Чирянка мала, Широконіска північна, Нерозень, Підсоколик великий, Зозуля звичайна, Синьошийка, Трав'янка чорноголова, Очеретянка ставкова (rarely Очеретянка лучна and Очеретянка велика) and Сорокопуд терновий. Large flocks of Гуска білолоба use the area during winter, and also a small group of Гуска мала from a rewilding project in Sweden has established a "tradition" to visit the area for wintering, starting in 2017. In late winter, the area serves as roosting place for hundreds of Журавель сірий and during spring migration, a great variety of ducks and waders can be encountered. Occasionally, rarities show up (e.g. Чапля руда, Чернь білоока, Погонич малий).
