Description
The "Domaine de la Palissade" covers 702 hectares on the south-eastern part of the Camargue, on the grand Rhône delta. This domain offers a diversity of remarkable environments: sansouïre (biotope of lands flooded of sea water), reedbeds, marshes, lagoons or riparian forests, typical biotope of the 'Reserve nationale de Camargue'.

Ce domaine offre une diversité de milieux remarquables : sansouïres (biotopes de terres inondées d'eau de mer), roselières, marais, lagunes ou ripisylve (bois de rive) représentatifs de la Réserve nationale de Camargue.
Toute l'année, on peut observer Canard chipeau, Canard colvert, Cygne tuberculé, Flamant rose, Héron cendré, Aigrette garzette, Foulque macroule, Râle d'eau, Gallinule poule d'eau, Avocette élégante, Chevalier gambette, Mouette rieuse, Goéland leucophé, Busard des roseaux, Martin pêcheur, Bruant des roseaux. En été, vous pourrez observer Échasse blanche, Gravelot, Sterne nain, Guifette noire, Milan noir, Huppe fasciée, Guêpier, et la Fauvette à lunettes. En hiver, Canard siffleur, Canard souchet, Sarcelle d'hiver, Tadorne de Belon, Oie cendrée, Grèbe huppé, Grand cormoran, Bécassine, Buse variable, Busard Saint-Martin, et de nombreux passereaux.

Access
Coming from the East (Marseille), cross the Rhône with the Barcarin ferry near Port-St-Louis. Then take a left, towards Piedmanson beach. For other origins (Arles, Montpellier), take the D36 to Salin de Giraud and continue towards the beach of Piedmanson. The Palissade area is 5 miles to your left. Next to the visitor center is a parking (to go there click on the P on the map)
You can choose between walking trails of 1 km, 5 km or 8 km. Pissible with or without a professional guide (Advance booking necessary). Open every day from 09:00 - 17:00 (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays from mid-November to February). Entrance : Adults 3 € (Children go free).

Français: En venant de l'Est (Marseille), traverser le Rhône avec le bac de Barcarin près de Port-St-Louis. Prendre ensuite à gauche, direction Plage de Piemanson. En arrivant d'Arles ou de Montpellier, prendre la D36 à Salin de Giraud et continuer vers la plage de Piemanson. Le domaine de la Palissade est à 8 km sur votre gauche. A côté du centre d'accueil se trouve un parking (cliquez sur le point P sur la carte pour les coordonnées GPS).
Vous pouvez choisir entre des sentiers de randonnée de 1 km, 5 km ou 8 km. Possible avec ou sans guide professionnel (réservation préalable nécessaire). Ouvert tous les jours de 09:00 à 17:00 (fermé les lundis et mardis de mi-novembre à février). Entrée : Adultes 3 € (Enfants gratuits).
