Artificial lake in the Aisne department in northern France. More than 200 bird species have been seen around the lake.
The Lac de l'Ailette and its associated small reed beds, are home to many birds. The birding is particularly good in winter with sometimes observations of remarkable species. Hunting and fishing are prohibited in the park, making the site attractive to avifauna. In summer the Lac de l'Ailette is popular with water sports enthusiasts but despite the fact that there is a lot of recreation on the lake, still 76 bird species breed in the area.
You can walk or cycle around the lake (about 10 km) or make different stops by car. On the map you see the best parts for birdwatching along the lake. Click on a P in the map to get directions to the parking of your choice.
