Île d'Aix

Île d'Aix is an island of approximately 1.20 km2 with many different habitats. There is a fairly large forest, mainly composed of conifers, but also species of deciduous trees. Among the species present in this environment, you find Чорна синиця , Синиця чубата or Синиця блакитна. During migration, Мухоловка строката and Горихвістка звичайна are very common. Some raptors are also present, such as Підсоколик великий or Яструб малий, and, more rarely, Яструб великий. Other breeding species usually sing in the undergrowth, such as Тинівка лісова, Кропивник, Дрізд співочий and Вільшанка.

Among the other areas of the island, there are large cereal crops, in which you can find other bird species, such as Кеклик червононогий, Фазан, Щеврик лучний, Жайворонок польовий or Жовта плиска. Birds of prey are also present, like Боривітер звичайний or Канюк звичайний. In migration, you find other species such as Кам’янка звичайна or Трав’янка лучна. In winter, very large groups of Зяблик звичайний, В’юрок, Чиж лісовий and Зеленяк звичайний are formed in fields.

Finally, the last main environment is made up of marshes, in which different species nest, such as Ходулoчник, Чоботар синьоногий and Таміка віялохвоста. In Autumn and Winter, these marshes offer refuge for many species of shorebirds, notably Побережник чорногрудий, Побережник малий, Коловодник чорний, Коловодник лісовий, Грицик великий, Кульон великий, Побережник ісландський and many others. At low tide, these birds generally feed on the mudflat which surrounds the island. Numerous gulls (breeding birds, migrants and winterers) are present on the island. You can observe Мартин сивий, Мартин сріблястий, Мартин скельний, Клуша, Мартин морський, Мартин звичайний, Мартин середземноморський and also terns like Крячок рябодзьобий. Many other rarer species can be observed. The Шуліка рудий and the Скопа are two migratory raptors quite present on the island in autumn.

Français: Une île dans la mer des perthuis, accueillant chaque année de nombreux oiseaux, notament des migrateurs en halte. Cette île d'environ 1, 20 Km2 possede un certain nombre d'habitats propices pour la biodiversité. Parmi les autres milieux de l'île, il y a de grandes cultures céréaliaires, dans lesquelles on peut retrouver d'autres espèces, comme la Кеклик червононогий , le Фазан , le Щеврик лучний , l' Жайворонок польовий ou encore la Жовта плиска ... Des rapaces sont aussi présents, comme le Боривітер звичайний ou la Канюк звичайний . En migration, on trouve d'autres espèces comme le Кам’янка звичайна ou le Трав’янка лучна. En hiver, de très grands groupes de Зяблик звичайний , В’юрок , Чиж лісовий et Зеленяк звичайний se forment dans les champs.

Enfin, le dernier milieu principal est composé de marais, dans lesquels nichent différentes espèces, comme l' Ходулoчник , Чоботар синьоногий et la Таміка віялохвоста. En Automne et en Hiver, ces marais offrent refuge à de nombreuses espèces de limicoles, notament les Побережник чорногрудий , Побережник малий , Коловодник чорний , Коловодник лісовий , Грицик великий , Кульон великий , Побережник ісландський et bien d'autres. A marrée basse, ces oiseux s'alimentent généralement dans la vasière qui entoure l'île. De nombreus laridés, nicheurs, migrateurs et hivernants sont présents sur l'île. ON peut notament observer les Мартин сивий , Мартин сріблястий , Мартин скельний , Клуша , Мартин морський , Мартин звичайний , Мартин середземноморський et Крячок рябодзьобий pour les plus communs. Mais bien d'autres espèces plus rares peuvent être observées. Le Шуліка рудий et le Скопа sont deux rapaces migrateurs assez présents sur l'île en automne.

Access

The island is only accessible by boat. Best option is the ferry leaving from Fouras. All year round a daily ferry service connects the island to the Pointe de la Fumée at the far end of the Fouras peninsula. The crossing takes about 20 minutes (for more info on the tickets and time table see the link below). The island itself you can only explore on foot or by bike. You can rent bicycles on the island.

Français: L'île n'est accessible que par bateau, notament avec le ferri partant de Fouras. On ne peut la vister qu'à pied ou à vélo. Des vélos avec charrettes sont par ailleurs disponiles sur l'île pour une modique somme.

Many rarities have been observed on the island. Some examples: the Мартин карибський, present from August 24 to September 28, 2018, then from August 20 to 28, 2019. A Шпак піренейський stayed from October 23 to 26, 2014. A Мартин делаверський stayed from October 20 to November 1, 2004, then another on February 10, 2018. The Вівчарик лісовий is also a regular, almost annual, island guest.
