Description
Forêt Domaniale de la Coubre is a large forest with pine trees, holm oaks, locust trees and open areas with broom/whin scrubs. The open and clear-cut areas are particularly interesting from an ornithological point of view. They are home to the rare Кропив’янка прованська, Жайворонок лісовий and Дрімлюга звичайний. Щеврик лісовий and Зозуля звичайна can be observed on the edges of the open areas in spring. Синиця чубата and Вівчарик світлочеревий are also a regional peculiarity and are rarely found anywhere else in the department.
In early summer, with a bit of luck, you can also hear Сплюшка євразійська calling. Змієїд блакитноногий can sometimes be observed flying overhead. There are rare reports in late summer and fall of Погонич звичайний at the extinguishing ponds that exist in the forest. With a bit of luck, you may also come across red deer. There is a good trail network in the forest with several hiking routes that are color-coded, so it's best to find a route that suits you.
