Lake surrounded by reed beds and woods all managed for wildlife. Circular path is an easy 4 km walk. One bird hide and several viewpoints.
Étang de Marcenay is a lake of 100 hectare. Its vast reedbed is one of the largest in Côte-d’Or. The lake is surrounded by trees and bushes. You can walk all the way around the lake and there is a two level bird hide. More than 180 bird species have been recorded in the area. Grebes, egrets, warblers and woodpeckers in July. Expect to see more variety during autumn migration. Lots of dragonflies. Also good for wintering water birds. Among the birds you can see in the area are Рибалочка блакитний, Очеретянка ставкова, Очеретянка лучна, Вівсянка очеретяна, Пастушок, Чирянка мала, Пірникоза велика, Пірникоза мала, Зозуля звичайна and Жовна чорна.

Français: Équipé d'un poste d'observation ornithologique, plus de 180 espèces d'oiseaux y ont été observées2. Le site se trouve dans la zone naturelle d’intérêt écologique, faunistique et floristique (ZNIEFF) de l'étang de Marcenay. Toutefois, le site accueille de nombreuses espèces d’oiseaux tout au long de l’année et l’automne et l’hiver peuvent vous assurer de beaux moments d’observations d’espèces en hivernage.
Étang de Marcenay is easy accessible from the village of Marcenay. From Châtillon-sur-Seine, take the D965 towards Laignes for about ten kilometers. Then follow the direction of Marcenay by the D5F. In the village of Marcenay, follow the signs for “Lac de Marcenay and Camping”. Click on the P in the map for directions.
