Description

The Porslahti communal gardens attract a variety of bird species in spring, summer and autumn. The regular Горобець хатній , Велика синиця and Горобець польовий are common birds in the gardens but it's also easy to come across birds like Вівчарик весняний , Вівчарик-ковалик , Кропив’янка сіра , Кропив’янка прудка , Вільшанка, Кропивник and Щиглик звичайний. Especially in late summer. Горихвістка звичайна , Трав’янка лучна and Синьошийка have also been seen in the gardens during late summer and early autumn. Due to the high amount of small birds in the area, it's also possible to spot Яструб малий and Яструб великий hunting in the area.

The small foresty area next to the gardens can also surprise birders positively. In autumn and winter time, the forest can attract berry eating birds like Снігур звичайний , Чикотень and Дрізд чорний. Золотомушка жовточуба likes to hunt for insects in the coniferous trees throughout the year and Жовна сива, Підкоришник звичайний and Ополовник звичайний, або синиця довгохвоста have been seen in the area as well.

As an added bonus, the gardens themselves are also lovely to look at when flowers are in full bloom and vegetables start to grow. Please be mindful when visiting and photographing to not disturb the gardeners too much to make birders welcome in the future too. While the paths around the gardens are public space the gardens themselves are off limits and should not be entered.
