Near the village of Võiste the coastal meadows are wide, and sandbanks are plenty. The coastal meadows also hold a few lagoons.
Luitemaa Nature Reserve is a wetland complex on the south-western coast of Estonia that consists of diverse coastal and inland habitats including shallow sea, capes and islands, coastal meadows and reed-beds. The coastal meadows near Võiste have shallow waters that attract large amounts of dabbling ducks (Нерозень, Крижень, Чирянка велика, Свищ євразійський, Чирянка мала and so on), Галагаз євразійський and swans. The wide coastal meadows and lagoons are favored by geese. Most common are Гуска сіра and Казарка білощока. Rarer gooses like Гуска білолоба, Гуменник короткодзьобий, Казарка канадська, Казарка червоновола, Казарка чорна, Tundra Bean Goose and Гуменник are often found during migration.
The sandbanks and lagoons are great spots for wading birds. Most common breeding birds are Коловодник звичайний, Пісочник великий, Кулик-сорока, Сивка звичайна, Чайка чубата, and Брижач. During migration Коловодник чорний, Чоботар синьоногий, Побережник чорногрудий, Побережник малий, Побережник білохвостий, Побережник ісландський, Побережник червоногрудий, Кульон великий and Кульон середній have been recorded.
