Description
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as Бугайчик (the only location of this species in Prague), Кобилочка солов’їна, Пастушок, Очеретянка велика, Очеретянка ставкова, Водяна курочка or Вівсянка очеретяна. Also the Лунь очеретяний is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of Пірникоза велика, Лиска звичайна, Крижень and a few pairs of Попелюх звичайний and Чернь чубата. In the linked rural areas breed Сорокопуд терновий, Кобилочка-цвіркун, Соловейко західний and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of Ластівка берегова.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Синьошийка, Трав’янка лучна, Трав'янка чорноголова, Мухоловка строката, Чирянка велика and many other species of waterfowl, Баранець звичайний, Чайка чубата and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Шпак звичайний murmuration. Also Ластівка сільська and Жовта плиска come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!

Access
Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the north of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to station Dolnoměcholupská and then 30 minutes walking using the biking trail. It is possible to make a circular route, but only the eastern side of the pond has a paved road.
