Description
Ostruženské Rybníky is a complex of ponds in the floodplain of the Velký and Malý Porák streams. The area forms a vital wetland enclave within a predominantly agricultural landscape. The system includes eight ponds of varying sizes. The largest is Ostruženský Pond, covering 50 hectares, and together with Turecký and Čeperka, it forms the core of the system.
The area is great for birding. Almost 200 bird species have been recorded, and more than 100 breeding species, including Очеретянка велика, Очеретянка лучна, Лунь очеретяний, Лелека білий and Пірникоза мала. Other birds that can be observed are Чирянка велика, Широконіска північна, Орлан-білохвіст, Жайворонок польовий, Вівсянка звичайна, Вівсянка очеретяна and Журавель сірий.

Ostruženské Rybníky is located west of the town of Jičín, near the village of Ostružno. You can reach the ponds by car, and there are parking options nearby. Public transport access is limited. The best approach is to explore the area on foot or by bicycle. The terrain is mostly flat and accessible, with a mix of paved and unpaved paths.
