Description
Even the industrial/urban area in the north of this region harbours quite some good species in winter, like Свищ євразійський, Нерозень, Чернь чубата and Попелюх звичайний. They can be common near te sewage works, as do gulls Пірникоза мала and Гуска сіра.
In recent years Бугай водяний has become almost annual (often more then one) and some years Сутора вусата, або синиця вусата turns up. There's a big breeding population of Очеретянка ставкова (>20 pairs) as do Очеретянка середземноморська and Вівсянка очеретяна in small numbers. In some years even Синьошийка breeds here.
The meadow areas further to the south, especially those along the railway hold most of the time waders in late winter and spring. Грицик великий, Коловодник болотяний, Коловодник лісовий, Брижач, Пісочник малий (breeds some years), Побережник чорногрудий, Баранець звичайний, Баранець малий and others are seen annual. In winter this area often holds Щеврик гірський. In wet years species as Чирянка велика and Широконіска північна can be breeding here. Irregular breeders are Вівсянка очеретяна, Очеретянка середземноморська and Трав'янка чорноголова.
The area more to the south can hold Рибалочка блакитний, Плиска гірська, Трав'янка чорноголова and the same species mentioned earlier, but chances on these are more remote.
