Description
Over 240 bird species have been found at the Güssinger Fischteiche, making it one of the best places in southern Burgenland for birdwatching. The site is also easily accessible from the town and can be incorporated with a visit to the well-known castle nearby. Highlights include breeding Попелюх звичайний and Пірникоза велика, a heron colony with Чапля сіра and Чепура велика and summer migrants including Бугайчик and Кобилочка солов’їна. In spring the site attracts waders such as Ходулoчник as well as passage birds such as Мартин малий and Крячок чорний. The site also has some woodland, which contains Жовна чорна, Костогриз, Жовна сива, and there is a chance of Орлан-білохвіст.

Access
You can park in the main town car parks and walk across the road. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 6 km. The paths in between the fishponds themselves are private, but birdwatchers are tolerated and local walkers often use these too. These paths offer the best views of the ponds.
