Description

Now long filled in, Tothill Park was once a tidal creek of the nearby River Plym Estuary (see separate entry). As a reminder of it's past life on quieter Autumn/Winter days the sports fields at it's Eastern end can still hold a small flock of Poyrazkuşu sometimes even joined by one or two Kervançulluğu probing the soft turf of the sports fields. At the Western end the park is more formal in design, with mature trees around it's edge and more open grassland at it's centre with the occasional shrub bed, this Western end also has a tennis court and bowling green, whilst most of the birds are more common species the scrubland bordering the little used railway line along the Southern edge of the sports fields are worth checking for Kamış Bülbülü.

For the birdwatcher with more time also check out the cycle path by going under the railway tunnel on the South end of the central road, this elevated path eventually leads to the River Plym Estuary. Press stars on map for more information.
