A complex of mature lakes near Burghfield. The lakes hold a substantial wintering population of wildfowl.
The flooded former gravel workings in the Kennet valley running over four miles from south west Reading to Sulhampstead attracts birds all year round. Among the birds you can encounter are Karabağlı ötleğen, Küçük Ak Gerdanlı Ötleğen, Boz ötleğen, Kamış Bülbülü, Delice doğan and Bülbül. There is a substantial population of Winter ducks, mostly dabbling, including hundreds of Tepeli patka, Boz ördek and Fiyu and the odd Altıngöz.
For Burghfield Gravel Pits, park just inside Water Ski entrance (SU 670 703), or in the small lay-by on the east side of Searles Farm Lane near its junction with Berrys Lane (SU 685 700).
