Large remote commercial forest mostly at 3/400 metres, surrounds the Usk reservoir. Good for churring Çobanaldatan and roding Çulluk on summer evenings.
Glasfynydd Forest has mostly moorland and woodland species eg Taşkuşu, Kar Tavuğu ssp scotica, Kızılkuyruk, Su çulluğu, Küçük su çulluğu, Boz doğan, Kerkenez and Kızıl Çaylak. In winter Büyük örümcekkuşu, Çaprazgaga, Şakrak, Karabaşlı iskete and Küçük Huş İsketesi. Few birds on the reservoir but Çamurcun, Gri balýkçýl and Büyük tarakdiş possible. Derekuşu and Dağ kuyruksallayanı below the dam. For Çobanaldatan, look for a recently felled forest area with regrowth of bracken, bramble etc - only active after dark between May and August.
From Swansea take A4067 Tawe valley road then left two miles beyond Danyrogof caves. From A40 Brecon/Llandovery road, turn south from Trecastle. Buses through Trecastle regularly. Train station at Llandovery. The circular walk around the reservoir is 8 km.
