Description

Burghead is situated on a narrow promontory projecting into the Moray Firth. The place is good for sea ducks in winter and waders on shore at low tide. Among the birds you can see are Pufla, Telkuyruk, Kara ördek, Kadife ördek, Usturagaga, yaygın alk, Kara Alk, Tarakdiş, Büyük kumkuşu, Kervançulluğu, Tasçeviren, Mor Kumkuşu, Poyrazkuşu, Altıngöz, kaya incirkuşu and Tepeli Karabatak. In summer the bay is fishing ground for Balık kartalı. Besides birds you can spot seals and dolphins. The Moray Firth is home to over 1500 common seals, and up to 500 grey seals come into the Firth in the summer. The Moray Firth is also home to the most northerly resident population of bottle nose dolphins in the world and on a calm day dolphins can be seen leaping out of the water.
