Hamlet on coast. Open tidal beach and low cliffs. Open fields. Dunes and scattered trees / bushes. Migrants, waders. Regular rarities passing through.
Resident and passage waders, especially at Haven and at Longhoughton Steel, 1.5 km north. Large Altın yağmurcun flocks in winter, with records of Amerikan altýn yaðmurcunu and Küçük altın yağmurcun. Passage Sürmeli kervançulluğu and Kızıl kumkuşu. Winter Mor Kumkuşu. The tidal foreshore is unusual in that there are sheltered areas of shallow water protected from waves by reefs at almost all states of the tide, making it an important feeding location for the Küçük sumrus that breed at the nearby Long Nanny (q.v.) and other terns.
Kýzýlgerdanlý dalgýç and Buz Dalgýcý, and occasionally Karagerdanlý dalgýç, can be seen offshore in winter, and sarı gagalı dalgıç has been recorded.
Vagrant passerines on foreshore and at Seaton Point, 1.5 km south in 2020-22 included Mavigerdan, Sarı mukallit and Çöl kuyrukkakanı. Alaca kirazkuşu regular in winter. Kızılsırtlı örümcekkuşu and Büyük örümcekkuşu have both occurred on passage.
Car park at south end of Boulmer. Can be cycled too. 6 km from Alnmouth rail station. 418 bus calls. Good unpaved paths along coast.
