A large pile of polished rocks clearly shows that there used to be a beach here many thousands of years ago.
The only thing that makes Viksta Stentorg special, birdwise, is that you are highly likely to hear, and maybe even see Çobanaldatan in late spring and summer. These birds feel at home in the old, dry pine ridge that goes through this nature reserve. The best time to visit this place is at night as these birds are nocturnal. It is also possible to hear Çulluk and Alaca Baykuş while you are there.
The above mentioned birds can already be heard from the parking lot as the song of Çobanaldatan can travel a couple of kilometers. This nature reserve lies about 30 km north of Uppsala, past Björklinge. The parking lot is not super clearly visible, and is therefore easily missed, drive therefore careful when you know you're approach this area. The parking lot is on the right side of the road.
