Protected bird-rich bay on the island of Gotland with reedbeds and beach meadows. During late summer and autumn, large quantities of waders visit the area.
Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, Akkuyruklu kartal, Kuyrukkakan, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as Kızılbacak, Poyrazkuşu, Döşüşkenkuş, Kervançulluğu, Çamurçulluğu, Kılıçgaga and Karakarınlı kumkuşu, but also other species such as Küçük sumru, Hazar sumrusu and Kutup sumrusu. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Akyanaklý kaz can be seen in the area.
By car or bicycle. Parking near the bird observation tower. Note: Entry is prohibited from 15 March to 30 June and from 1 October to 15 November.
