Description
Lake Paviken and its surroundings form a nature reserve which has some of the best birding on the island of Gotland. The nutritious lake is a stop-over site for migratory birds during spring and autumn. The birds are also attracted by the reeds and grazed, damp meadows. A total of 240 bird species has been observed in the area. The lake has a bird observation tower on the east side. Ducks, Balaban, Turna and Saz delicesi thrive here together with many other species. In the bushes by the lakeshore you can hear singing warblers and rails in the evenings and nights. Among the other birds you can see are Ötücü kuğu, Benekli bülbül, Benekli suyelvesi, Su kılavuzu, Çıkrıkçın, Küçük ağaçkakan and Çulhakuşu. Rare guests that have been seen here are Kara leylek, Macar ördeği, Ala doğan, Sibirya kazi, İbibik and Kizil kirlangici.
