An excellent area for watching migrating birds on the east coast of Sweden.
Lönö is an excellent spot for watching migrating birds of prey that follow the east coast of Sweden. Hundreds if not thousands of Şahin and Atmaca migrate over Bråviken. Among theese Kerkenez, Arı Şahini , Paçalı şahin, Çakýr, Boz doğan, and Kaya kartalý are often found. Most birds of prey can be seen in autumn in oktober/september.
From the peninsula you can see large amounts of passerine birds migrate esspecially in May/Oktober. Most common are the İspinoz, Çayır incirkuşu and Karabaşlı iskete. They can often bee senn migrating in the thousands.
In April/May hundreds of gulls and terns can be seen migrating along the coast. Among these there can sometimes pass a few rarer spiecies like Küçük martı and Kara sumru. In may a few migrating wading pass Lönö. Most common is the Kervançulluğu, which has often migrates in the thousands, at the same time you can also see smaller amounts Kızılbacak, Yeşilbacak, Halkalı cılıbıt and Poyrazkuşu. On the peninsula Çütre, Kızılsırtlı örümcekkuşu and Küçük ağaçkakan breed. In the area Karasırtlı Martı and Suna breed.
Hundreds of Tepeli patka, Altıngöz, and Büyük tarakdiş winter around Lönö. Smaller amounts ofBahri, Sütlabi, Tarakdiş, Karabatak, and Büyük Karasırtlı Martı can also be found.
The area is about 35 kilometers east of Norrköping. To reach it you have to take Arkösundsvägen from Norrköping the turn left to Lönövägen where you reach the Lönö lighthouse after 11 kilometers. There is parking space just before the houses, next to a field. It is about a 1 km long walk from the parking spot to the lighthouse. The best spot for birdwatching is at the lighthouse but there are other good spots along Lönövägen.
Since it is a migration locale mainly it might be empty when birds are not migrating and large amounts of birds usually do not rest here since it is the raptor and geese are the most numerous migrants. This means it might seem quite bird empty.
