A small harbour on the northern part of Öland which is rich in birds.
During the summer Böda is a popular beach holiday destination. Although it is good birding year round, visiting this site is most preferable outside of the holiday season for some prime time birdwatching.
Böda hamn harbours several habitats over a small area meaning you only have to walk a short distance to reach a different niche of birds. The harbour itself houses a variety of swallows and gulls. Just north of the harbour is a shallow bay home to waders like Poyrazkuşu, Halkalı cılıbıt and Kıyı çamurçulluğu as well as waterfowl like Suna, Tarakdiş and Kuğu. Continuing north is a shallow marsh with lots of ducks like Kaşıkgaga and Boz ördek. Directly beyond the marsh comes an open area with spread out bushes good for Kızılsırtlı örümcekkuşu, Küçük Ak Gerdanlı Ötleğen, Sarı mukallit and Tarlakuşu. Following this road north ends at another bay which is a prime breeding location for terns and gulls. A patch of decidious forest is accessible on the road just before the harbour.
Böda Hamn is easily reached by following the main Öland road 136 north past Borgholm towards Melböda which is just before the actual village of Böda. At Melböda you take the exit pointing towards Böda hamn. Alternatively you can follow the signs towards "Böda hamns camping" which is located just next to the harbour. Parking can be done on the P indicated in the map below.
