This beautiful rocky island is one of Swedens national parks.
Birding is not the main activity done on the island Blå Jungfrun nor are there any specifically good birding spots. Birding is best done walking along the trail and overlooking the sea or bushes. This island used to have a small population of Kara Alk, however the population has been in a steep decline the past decade and nowadays only a handfull breed on the island. Other birds like Akkuyruklu kartal and Kadife ördek can be seen around the island. A scope could be useful for watching the birds at sea but it will also be a challenge to carry it around the island.
Blå Jungfrun can only be reached by boat. Departuring from Oskarshamn (mainland Sweden), Byxelkrok (Öland), or with your own boat. Boats only go here during summer. For departures see the link below.
The 4 km trail on the island is hilly and it will be difficult to walk around the island if you have trouble walking.
