Description

Bergafjärden consists of a large coastal meadow in the middle and higher hill/mountainous areas to the north and south. Most of the coastal meadow has been turned into a large beach for tourists but there are parts untouched in the northern part of the bay. Over the years 207 species have been recorded. During winter ice-free periods are often birdrich although the shallow waters often makes it frozen during winters. Kuğu, Ötücü kuğu, Sütlabi, Yeşilbaş, Büyük tarakdiş, Altıngöz, Kuzey Gümüş Martı, Küçük gümüþ martý and Tepeli patka are the common seafowl during this period. Among other birds Boz kaz, Gri balýkçýl, Büyük örümcekkuşu, and Akkuyruklu kartal are uncommon. Wintering woodpeckers like Küçük yeşil ağaçkakan, Yeşil Ağaçkakan, and üç parmaklı ağaçkakan can be found most years. During spring many waders can be found. Most common among these are Kızılbacak, Orman düdükçünü, Yeşilbacak, Küçük halkalı cılıbıt, Çulluk, Dere düdükçünü, Poyrazkuşu, Yeşil düdükçün, Kervançulluğu, Halkalı cılıbıt and Döşüşkenkuş. More rarely Kıyı çamurçulluğu, Sürmeli kervançulluğu, Altın yağmurcun Kara kızılbacak, Karakarınlı kumkuşu and Sarıbacaklı kumkuşu can be found. During perfect weather even Büyük kumkuşu, Ak kumkuşu, Büyük kumkuşu, Küçük kumkuşu, Sürmeli kumkuşu or Kızıl kumkuşu can be found although these are more common during autumn (while still being very rare).

During this period common terns (Kutup sumrusu, Sumru, Hazar sumrusu), common gulls (Kuzey Gümüş Martı, Büyük Karasırtlı Martı, Karasırtlı Martı, Küçük gümüþ martý and Karabağ martı) and sometimes the rare Küçük martı is found.
