Description
Cabo Villano is a rugged peninsula located on the west coast of Galicia. The cape is home to the Cape Vilan Lighthouse, which is one of the most powerful lighthouses on the Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula. Erected at an altitude of 125 meters, the lighthouse has a powerful light that can reach up to 55 kilometers. Cabo Villano was declared a Natural Monument in 1933 due to its natural beauty and biodiversity. The cape's diverse landscapes, including cliffs, rocky shores, and coastal vegetation, provide attract seabirds such as Tepeli Karabatak, Sümsükkuþu and various gulls, but also Kuzgun, Kırmızıgagalı dağkargası, Gök doðan, Bahçe kirazkuşu, Maskeli Ötleğen, Kara kızılkuyruk and Funda Ötleğeni.

The lighthouse at Cabo Villano is located 3,5 km nort of the town of Gorliz. You can drive all the way up to the lighthouse and explore the area from there on foot. Press P on the map for directions.
