Description
Leisure Isle is surrounded on all sides by the waters of the tidal Knysna estuary, which is ringed by a chain of hills. The Island has a total circumference of over 4 km, is 1.6 km in length and 0.5 km across at its widest point. Most of the tidal salt marsh that surrounds Leisure Isle is a proclaimed Invertebrate Reserve under the jurisdiction of the SANParks. It is a reserve for many seabird species.

Access
Leisure Isle is linked to the mainland by a narrow causeway. It is 6 km from the centre of Knysna, and is approached from George Rex Drive. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot.
