Description
Radensko Polje is a small karst plain south-east of Ljubljana. The landscape is a mosaic of wet meadows, fields, hedgerows and surrounding forest edges, creating a rich variety of habitats within a compact area.
The plain is home to Leylek, Gri balýkçýl, Erguvani balýkçýl, Büyük ak balýkçýl and Küçük ak balýkçýl. Seasonal floods attract ducks such as Elmabaş patka, Çamurcun, Fiyu and Tepeli patka, as well as Dere düdükçünü and Yeşil düdükçün, while Yalıçapkını can be found along streams. Raptors include Şahin , Kerkenez and Çakýr, with Ala doğan passing during migration. Warblers and several woodpeckers add to the diversity.
Though not the easiest birding location - birds tend to be elusive and the terrain challenging - Radensko Polje rewards patience with excellent birdlife and scenic karst landscape.
