Ilha das Garças is a small island of the Tagus and inaccessible to humans. Thousands of birds, especially herons of various species, are nesting here between March and June. From Valada do Ribatejo you can take a boat tour to the island and along the river banks. Among the birds you can see are Alaca Balikçil, Gece Balikçili, Sığır balıkçılı, Kaşıkçı, Çeltikçi, Küçük ak balýkçýl, Gri balýkçýl, Yalıçapkını, Küçük kartal and Balık kartalı.
