Description

The Górki Fishponds occupy an area of approximately 350 hectares and are located in the flood valley of the Nida River. The fishponds are a restricted, you have to ask permission to visit. The banks of the ponds are overgrown with reed and the complex is surrounded by meadows and arable fields which are temporarily flooded. It is an important wetland for birds. Among the interesting birds that can be seen are Çıkrıkçın, Kızılboyunlu batağan, Kaşıkgaga, Balaban, Gece Balikçili, Kara leylek, Gümüş martı, Macar ördeği, Kara sumru, Bataklık Kamışçını, Bıyıklı baştankara, Mavigerdan, Akkuyruklu kartal, İbibik, Alaca Ağaçkakan and Büyük kamışçın. Note: Prior telephone contact with the owner of the pond complex is necessary for permission to enter the area!

Access

Best access by provincial road 771. The car can be parked in a small parking lot next to the main road, from the village of Górki, or near the "Ostoja Górecka" fishery. It is best to explore this place on foot, after contacting the owner of the complex (tel +48 519-184-784). Both the fishponds and the meadows are accessible on foot only. To get to the north part of the fishponds you need to turn off the asphalt road heading for Nowy Korczyn, which cuts across the fishponds, and turn for the village of Górki. Note: You need to inform the fish farm ahead of your visit; their contact phone number is +48 519-184-784.
