Frognerparken is perhaps best known for all the statues by Gustav Vigeland, but it's worth bringing your binoculars as well when you visit.
In summer, Frognerparken is a good spot for the resident, urban species, like Ak kuyruksallayan , İspinoz , Saka and Karatavuk. In addition, the ponds will hold various ducks and maybe also Sutavuðu, Dere düdükçünü and Dağ kuyruksallayanı. Kuğu breeds here.
In winter, the ponds usually have open water, which is good for wintering ducks. Yeşilbaş are of course abundant, while Altıngöz and Tepeli patka are usual guests. Çamurcun and Fiyu also regularly winter here. Always check for rarer species, especially in late fall and early spring. Gri balýkçýl is also a common sight. Gulls also frequent the park during the winter months, due to people feeding the ducks. Wintering Karabağ martı and Küçük gümüþ martý can be found, as well as rarer species. Both Kutup martısı and Grönland Martısı have been reported from the park, and one Halkalı Martı was found here in the spring of 2001.
Follow Frognerelva south west to Skøyen and look for Derekuşu during winter.
Frognerparken is easily accessible by bus, tram and subway. Majorstuen is the closest hub, a mere five minute walk away. If you exit to the south west towards Skøyen, you will find both train, tram and bus to take you back to Oslo. Driving is not recommended, as parking may be difficult and expensive.
