Water from the dunes runs towards the south point of Texel. Het Grote Vlak consists of a few lakes in this water course.

Description

Het Grote Vlak often holds a lot of ducks ( Kaşıkgaga , Boz ördek , Kilkuyruk , Suna , Fiyu and in spring Çıkrıkçın ), gulls and grebes. Sometimes waders, like Çamurçulluğu , are abundant and few songbirds, like Dağ incirkuşu and Taşkuşu (sometimes even Mavigerdan ), can be found. The area is also good for finding Gökçe güvercin , Kuyrukkakan and in winter Paçalı şahin .

Access

Het Grote Vlak is easily accessible from the village of Den Hoorn towards the beach. You can park on the roadside, but try to give way to cyclists on the parallel cycle path.
