Description
The Regional Natural Park of Porto Selvaggio covers 400 hectares and is located along the west coast of Salento between Porto Cesareo and Gallipoli. Porto Selvaggio (literally Wild Port) is mainly covered by a dense pine wood, olives, eucalyptus trees and Mediterranean macchia (scrub-land) of acacias and brooms. It also includes a stretch of rocky and jagged coastline which overlooks the Ionian Sea. It is easy to spot numerous gulls, waders and birds that are typical of the Mediterranean scrub. Among the birds you can encounter are Orman düdükçünü, Alaca Balikçil, Akdeniz Martısı, Ada Martısı, Incegagalı martı, Gümüş martı, İbibik and Maskeli Ötleğen.
