This protected Ramsar reserve is a typical enclosed embanked valley with woodland, reed thicket and damp meadows.
Oasi WWF Valle Averto extends to the edge of the Venetian lagoon and is a typical fishing valley of the Venetian lagoon, the only one closed to hunting. The area of about 200 hectares, includes brackish water, reed beds, woodland, meadows and canals. After being purchased by WWF, plants of the planífico igrofilo forest kind were re-introduced: oak, black poplar, elm, ash and other typical species. Valle Averto is one of the most important areas of the Venice lagoon for the wintering, migration and breeding birds. Note that visits are only possible with a guided tour and that reservations are always required, see more info below.

Oasi WWF Valle Averto is located in Campagna Lupia along the S.S. 309 Romea between Venice and Chioggia, near the intersection on the Novissimo canal with the town of Lugo di Campagna Lupia. A sign "WWF OASIS" indicates the entrance to the Reserve. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking. Visits are guided only and last about two hours on a 3.5-kilometer route. Italiano: Si trova in Comune di Campagna Lupia; lungo la S.S. 309 Romea tra Venezia e Chioggia, al km 112,800, in prossimità dell’incrocio sul canale Novissimo con l’abitato di Lugo di Campagna Lupia, un cartello “OASI WWF” indica l’ingresso alla Riserva. Parcheggio aperto e accessibile all'apertura dell'oasi stessa. Le visite sono solo guidate ed hanno una durata di circa due ore su un percorso di 3,5 chilometri. E’ sempre necessaria la prenotazione.
