Description
Höfði Woodland Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Mývatn and consists of a beautiful forested area adjacent to the lake. Several pathways lead through a diverse habitat with scattered trees, strange rock formations and great views over the lake. The park is a good spot for local breeding birds, such as Huş isketesi, Kızıl ardıç and Çitkuşu. During migration, anything can show up here! Especially finches, like İspinoz, Dağ ispinozu and Şakrak have been seen in the past.
The rocky parts are particular good for Dağ Kartavuğu. The area is also used as hunting ground by Kar doğanı.
The views over the lake provide observations of many species of waterbird, like İzlanda Altıngözü, Karabaş patka, Deniz düdükçünü, Tarakdiş and Telkuyruk.
