Description
Alexandros Salt Pans are clearly no longer used for salt production. There are several small lagoons by the beach at the south side and the tarmac road follows the beach. A good dirt track continues along the embankment all the way, finishing as a dead end after 2.4 kilometres.
I visited the site in September during high tide (a dozen of both Akdeniz Martısı and Karagagalı Sumru, Gümüş martı, Hazar sumrusu, Küçük Karabatak and Karabatak, Küçük ak balýkçýl, Yelpaze Kuyruk), was somewhat surprised by the low number of birds, so I returned during low tide, only to find even fewer birds and not a single shorebird.
Local eBird hotspot also mention Kamış Bülbülü, Kizil kirlangici, Tepeli pelikan, Flamingo, Küçük sumru, Boz Ebabil, Akça cılıbıt, Sürmeli kervançulluğu, Kızılbacak, and Yeşilbacak.
