Description

The salt marshes and the sandbank at Westerheversand represent very diverse habitats. Many waders such as the Karakarınlı kumkuşu, Poyrazkuşu, Kızılbacak can be observed. On the sandbank, a particularly large number of gulls and other resting birds can be seen. Notable are the Kıyı çamurçulluğu, Halkalı cılıbıt, Akça cılıbıt, Karagagalı Sumru, Küçük sumru, Büyük kumkuşu, Akkuyruklu kartal and others.

The warft with lighthouse is a fixed point for migratory birds during migration, so that some songbirds can also be observed here.
