Description
Teichgebiet Wartha is part of the UNESCO-Biosphere Reserve "Oberlausitzer Heide und Teichlandschaft" (directly translated: "Upper Lusatian Heather and Pond landscape"), whereby pond landscape descibes the area pretty well. The ponds are partly also used for economical fish breeding. You can observe almost all kinds of water-dependent bird species, ranging from Ötücü kuğu, Akkuyruklu kartal over several duck species towards Saz Kamışçını. The bigger lakes can inhabit large numbers of moulting, breeding and resting waterfowl, especially ducks like Altıngöz, Çıkrıkçın and Elmabaş patka. In spring, after the last frost, this area is a good spot for watching the blue moor frog.

Access
Within the area you best walk or go by bike, as no access for car is possible. Be aware that no real round-way exists, although many map-services might indicate multiple paths around. Most do not exist or/and are highly vegetated in summer, making passage impossible.
