The Neßmersiel reservoir and the adjacent salt marshes are interesting for many species of birds, they find peace and food there.
Neßmersiel is a small coastal resort between Norddeich and Dornumersiel. The Neßmersiel storage polders and the salt marshes are very popular breeding and resting places for a wide variety of water and wading bird species. A bird observation tower is located on the 13 hectare reservoir, surrounded by salt marshes and meadows. It enables undisturbed insights of waders and water birds. A visit is worthwhile here at any time of the year. You can regularly see Kızkuşu, Poyrazkuşu, Boz kaz, Yeşilbacak, Kızılbacak, Kuğu, Suna, Karabatak, Kaşıkçı, Büyük ak balýkçýl, Kervançulluğu, Kılıçgaga, Gri balýkçýl and many other wading and water birds.
The approach to the Nessmersiel reservoir is via Strandstrasse 26553 Dornum. Parking spaces are available at the port. The reservoir and the salt marshes can only be reached on foot.
