Description

Nice combination of lake, reedbeds and woodlands. There is a large population of Büyük kamışçın , and a colony of Kara sumru at Die Banke. In winter, when other sites in Berlin can be a bit boring, one can find interesting waterfowl here, including Kızılboyunlu batağan, Kulaklı batağan, Altıngöz, Kadife ördek and various loons. In the winter 2020 the lake was visited by one of the rarest loons, the sarı gagalı dalgıç (gavia adamsii). The woodlands south of the lake are home to breeding Küçük sinekkapan.
