Description
The Lech Hochablass is a weir that dams the river Lech and is accessible on foot. Below you see the river Lech when it passes the weir and a mighty waterfall flows down on the other side. There is also a fish ladder and large gravel banks north of the dam. The site is perfect to observe the Derekuşu, which breeds here every year. The Dağ kuyruksallayanı, Ak kuyruksallayan and in winter the Dağ incirkuşu can also often be seen here.
Other interesting species are Karabağ martı, Büyük tarakdiş and Yalıçapkını, which are favored by the proximity to the lake Kuhsee. Southwest of the Lech Hochablass, at the 'Fotopunkt Hochablass' (Hochablass photo point), there are feeding stations in winter where Kocabaş, Alakarga and Orman alaca ağaçkakanı can be seen, and in the immediately surrounding forest area you can also see the Ortanca Ağaçkakan. The Hochablass is an unusual and impressive birdwatching spot and always worth a detour.
