Description

Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include Kuğu and Sakarmeke. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by Kum kırlangıcı, and Poyrazkuşu breeds on the gravelly flat banks. Saz Kamışçını, Çalı kamışçını and Bataklık kirazkuşu live in the reed beds, while Bülbül and Çulhakuşu live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Kızılsırtlı örümcekkuşu, Akgerdanlı ötleğen and Küçük Ak Gerdanlı Ötleğen, while Kerkenez, Sarıasma and Ağaç serçesi breed in the trees. Çilkeklik, Çayır taşkuşu, Tepeli toygar and Kuyrukkakan live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Tundra kazi, Sakarca, Elmabaş patka, Tepeli patka and Büyük tarakdiş.
