An artificial lake in a gravel pit with a large number of waterfowl and wading birds.
The artificial lake of the gravel pit (Kiesgrube Liebersee) is home to a large number of waterfowl and wading birds on the various small islands in the lake. Here you can find Küçük sumru, Sumru, Suna, Kervançulluğu, Kızılbacak, Poyrazkuşu, Küçük halkalı cılıbıt and many more.
Surrounding the lake are reed beds and a structurally rich open landscape with bushes and trees. There you can find various species such as Balaban, Saz delicesi, Çalı kamışçını, Büyük kamışçın, Akgerdanlı ötleğen, Boz ötleğen, Küçük Ak Gerdanlı Ötleğen, Sarı mukallit and more.
Kiesgrube Liebersee is located between the towns of Belgern and Mühlberg on the other side of the river Elbe. I suggest coming via the Belgern side in the north via the village of Dröschkau. From there, you can take a quick walk to watch the lake. However, please note that this route takes you to the lake from the North. Depending the day time, you may looks towards the sun.
A spotting scope is highly recommended to be able to watch the various islands.
