Description

The Cospudener See is an artificially constructed lake south of Leipzig. The southeastern corner of the Cospudener lake and the adjacent Neue Hardt forest hold an interesting mixture of birds living in the water, in reed beds, wetland, on grassland and in forests. These include bird species such as Sumru , Fiyu , Boz ördek , orman ördeği (early spring 2024), Bahri , Boz kaz , Küçük halkalı cılıbıt , Dere düdükçünü , Çulhakuşu , Ağaç incirkuşu , Büyük kamışçın , Kocabaş , Orman Toygarı , Boyunçeviren , Taşkuşu , Çizgili ötleğen and many more.

During winter, you may also find rare guests from the far north such as Kýzýlgerdanlý dalgýç , Karagerdanlý dalgýç and Buz Dalgýcý.

Access

The Cospudener See is located on the southern outskirts of Leipzig, near the town of Markkleeberg. This route starts at the marina at the southwestern end of Markkleeberg. You can get there by foot, bike, car and bus. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking. The circular walk is about 7 km.
