Description

The area is of great importance for breeding birds of semi-natural grasslands and wetlands. Around 80 species of breeding birds are recorded annually, including Kervançulluğu, Kızkuşu, Leylek , Küçük batağan, Su kılavuzu, Bıldırcın, Çıkrıkçın, Çamurcun, Kaşıkgaga, Boz ördek, Delice doğan, Guguk, Mavigerdan, Taşkuşu, Saz Kamışçını (rarely Kındıra kamışçını and Büyük kamışçın) and Kızılsırtlı örümcekkuşu. Large flocks of Sakarca use the area during winter, and also a small group of Küçük sakarca from a rewilding project in Sweden has established a "tradition" to visit the area for wintering, starting in 2017. In late winter, the area serves as roosting place for hundreds of Turna and during spring migration, a great variety of ducks and waders can be encountered. Occasionally, rarities show up (e.g. Erguvani balýkçýl, Pasbaş Patka, Bataklýk suyelvesi).
