Description

The Étang du Bischwald is a picturesque lake that is part of the Natura 2000 network. Sailing, fishing and swimming on the lake are forbidden. The lake is also part of the Plaine du Bischwald, which spans approximately 2,500 hectares and includes wetlands, marshes, and meadows. Étang du Bischwald is rich in birds. Over a hundred bird species have been recorded here. Most birds can be observed in winter.

Access

The Étang du Bischwald is located in the Grand-Est region of France, between the towns of Saint-Avold and Morhange. On the north-east side of the lake, from the dike along the road there are viewpoints with a good overview of the lake. Press P on the map for directions to the first viewpoint. The birds can be far away, so a telescope is recommended.
