Easy tour of 8,5 km that nevertheless allows you to observe emblematic species of the Pyrenees.
If you don't want to drive deep into the mountains, but still want to observe a few of the typical species, you can take a hike from the town of Verdun. The Ermitage de St-Pierre hike is comparatively easy for the mountains. Kırmızıgagalı dağkargası can be seen foraging on the slopes. Birds of prey that are easy to spot include Kızıl Çaylak, Yılan Kartalı, Kızıl akbaba, Küçük Akbaba and Gök doðan. Only occasionally Sakallı akbaba and Kaya kartalý can be seen flying over, but spots deeper in the mountains allow better observations of these species. Iberian Yeşil Ağaçkakan (Picus sharpei) can be heard calling.
Ermitage de St-Pierre is a 8,5 km walk that starts in Verdun. You can park for free at the train station of les Cabannes (Gare des Cabannes) or go there by train. Press P on the map for directions to the parking.
